Stewart Rowell (Streetlife DJs)
Stewart is the founder member of former Kitsune Recording artists The Streetlife DJs. With 25+ years experience behind the turntables, his eclectic musical taste has lit up the smiley faces of party people the world over.
Stewart started playing hip-hop, soul and funk in the late 80s, which led onto a successful career as a house DJ, holding residencies at many of clubs ands revered nightspots including Home, Turnmills and The End in London, as well as Cafe Mambo and Space in Ibiza. He has twice performed for Pete Tongs Essential Mix show on BBC Radio 1 and played gigs in all shapes & sizes from huge festival stages, to ski lodges 3000m up in the alps, to small intimate bar spaces. He’s rocked events including the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony after party, London fashion week parties for Alexander McQueen and Julien McDonald, shows for Kelis & Pharrell WIlliams in Tokyo, F1′s David Coulthard, events for Mercedes Benz, Nike, Nokia, Sony and Red Bull.
Stewart can play an across the board mix of genres, adapting to each crowd and always working to couple’s specifications where required. From soul boy hip-hop, electro, reggae & funk, to balearic, disco & house, nu-wave 80s pop, indie and rock & roll. The following mix includes songs by Blondie, Gangstarr, Talking Heads, De La Soul, Jacques Lu Cont, Daft Punk, Donna Summer, Alan Braxe, Rolling Stones and many more….it was reviewed by Mixmag as “The most listened to mixtape in the Mixmag office last year” and further down are some new mixes he’s put together of 90s dance classics, one of club bangers and another of more ace mid-tempo club/pop/party grooves.
